-

Two drivers survived after a reportedly drunken driver got on Loop 610 going the wrong way and crashed into another vehicle.

About 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, a man in a green Ford Mustang entered the West Loop northbound going south, according to Houston police. Multiple drivers called 911; freeway cameras recorded the driver.

HPD officers caught up to the driver but could not prevent him from crashing into another car heading the correct direction at Bellaire Boulevard.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital in stable condition. There were no passengers in either car.

Police will perform a blood draw at the hospital to determine the wrongway driver’s blood-alcohol concentration.
