Memorial service held for Allen

Longtime Houston sports television anchor Bob Allen was remembered as a valued friend, family member and colleague at a memorial service Tuesday.

Allen, 70, the longtime KTRK (Channel 13) and KHOU (Channel 11) anchor who died Thursday after being treated for cancer over the last 16 months, was eulogized by a group that included Rev. Bill Lawson, the father of his longtime Channel 13 colleague, Melanie Lawson; longtime Channel 13 colleague Tim Melton; college friend Robert Poland and his brother, Ken Egalnick.
