Luhnow is hired after eight years with the St. Louis Cardinals in scouting and player development.
JUNE 5, 2012
The Astros take shortstop Carlos Correa with the first pick in the MLB draft. With their second pick, the Astros get pitcher Lance McCullers.
SEPT. 27, 2012
Washington third-base coach Bo Porter is hired as the Astros’ manager. He replaces Brad Mills, who was fired the previous month.
JUNE 6, 2013
The Astros take Stanford pitcher Mark Appel with the first pick in the draft, with the Cubs taking future NL MVP Kris Bryant at No. 2.
DEC. 28, 2013
Luhnow claims righthander Collin McHugh off waivers from Colorado. He later becomes a 19-game winner for the Astros.
JUNE 5, 2014
Picking first for the third consecutive year, the Astros draft high school lefthander Brady Aiken but are unable to reach a contract agreement with him after injury concerns.
SEPT. 1, 2014
The Astros fire manager Bo Parter with 24 games left in the season. He was 110-190 in his two years.
SEPT. 29, 2014
A.J. Hinch is hired as the third manager of the Luhnow era.
NOV. 3, 2014
The Astros claim reliever Will Harris off relievers from Arizona. He becomes an AL All-Star in 2016.
DEC. 12, 2014
The Astros sign relievers Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek to upgrade their bullpen.
JAN. 20, 2015
The Astros sign freeagent outfielder Colby Rasmus to a one-year, $8 million deal.
JUNE 8, 2015
The Astros grab LSU shortstop Alex Bregman with the second pick in the draft, compensation for not signing Brady Aiken.
