1 dead, 1 injured in shooting in Montgomery Co.

One person died and another was wounded after what officials believe was drug-related violence on Saturday night in Montgomery County.

Just before midnight, a 19-year-old man called police from the 25000 block of Lantern Lane in New Caney to say that he and his friend had been shot and that his friend was lying in the street bleeding, according to a Montgomery County Sheriff ’s Office press release.

First responders found a 20-year-old dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The caller had been shot repeatedly as well and was rushed to Conroe Regional Hospital with life-threatenin­g injuries.

The motive for the shooting is unclear, but investigat­ors believe that drugs were involved. Authoritie­s did not immediatel­y release the victims’ names.
