1 dead, 1 injured in shooting in Montgomery Co.

One person died and another was wounded after what officials believe was drug-related violence on Saturday night in Montgomery County.

Just before midnight, a 19-year-old man called police from the 25000 block of Lantern Lane in New Caney to say that he and his friend had been shot and that his friend was lying in the street bleeding, according to a Montgomery County Sheriff ’s Office press release.

First responders found a 20-year-old dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The caller had been shot repeatedly as well and was rushed to Conroe Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The motive for the shooting is unclear, but investigators believe that drugs were involved. Authorities did not immediately release the victims’ names.
