Cedric M. Hill, 86, passed away on January 13, 2017. He was born on February 11, 1930 to Joseph Cedric Hill and Frances Smith Hill. Cedric was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfathe­r. He loved traveling, playing bridge with his group and spending his time with family.

Cedric was born in Birmingham, Alabama; where he grew up with his brother James. He graduated from Pensacola High School in Florida. He served in the Army at Fort Bliss, and enjoyed the time he spent in El Paso. In 1948 his father began a career in Houston and Cedric and his mother and brother followed him there. They moved to Houston by way of a 1941 Cadillac roadster convertibl­e. They shared the two seater and rumble seat with their German shepherd, Rex, with all their personal belongings packed in tight and began their adventure to Houston.

Cedric began his career with Magnolia Petroleum (Exxon Mobil) as a Reservoir Engineer Accountant where he held his career for 37 years. He met Bobbie Bodenhamer there and soon they fell in love and married. They raised two daughters, Charmon and Shannon. Over the years, he showed dogs while the ladies in his life showed horses. If he wasn’t working, he was playing his favorite game, bridge.

He began playing bridge at a young age and competed in championsh­ip games all over the United States his entire life. He earned his Life Masters in 1981. Cedric will be loved forever and never forgotten.

Cedric is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Bobbie, and daughter Charmon Hanacek and her husband Ladd of Schulenbur­g, TX; daughter Shannon Gardner and her husband Jason of Magnolia TX: granddaugh­ters Paige and Faith Hanacek of Houston, TX; brother James Hill and his wife Carolyn of Houston, TX; Niece Kathleen McCord and her husband Barry of Houston, TX; Niece Kim Zander and her husband Matthew and his grand nieces and nephews Kendall Harleson, Greer McCord, Courtney Zander, Cullen Zander, and Walker Zander.

Services will be held at Klein Memorial Park in the Mausoleum Chapel on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Public visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial immediatel­y following.
