MARIA P. ZEPEDA

1924-2017

It is with sadness that we, the family of Maria Ponce Zepeda, 92, announce that she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 12, 2017.

She was born on September 25, 1924 in McFaddin, Texas to Isabel and Tomas Ponce.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Manuel Olivo Zepeda (2011), daughter, Irene Richard (2016), grandson, Nathan Dion Suarez; great-grandson, Nicholas Gonzalez and brothers, Trinidad Pena and Faustino Poncio.

Mom is survived by daughters, Gloria Medina (Robert), and Teresa P. Zepeda; sons, Herman and Joel Zepeda; grandchildren, Angie Aranda, Alex Colunga, Jason Villarreal, Kristina Zepeda and Jon Michael Zepeda; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dolores Poncio, Sara Pena and Reynalda Barrera; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

She retired from St. Joseph Hospital and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. She was an Astros fan, enjoyed bingo, word search puzzles, monthly outings to the casinos in Louisiana, and spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

The Zepeda family will greet family and friends for a visitation on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, from 5pm-9pm, with a rosary at 7pm.

Funeral service will be 10am, Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in the Grand Chapel of Forest Park, followed by interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
