McDaniels tells 49ers, ‘Thanks, but no thanks’
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interview with the San Francisco 49ers but says for now he will remain with the Patriots.
McDaniel said Monday the decision was what’s “best for my family and myself ” and that he will stay with New England to focus on the playoffs and finish out the season “however it turns out.”
McDaniels, who was head coach at Denver in 2009 and 2010, interviewed with the 49ers during the Patriots’ off week before the playoffs. He also interviewed for the Jacksonville job.
