JANE ELIZABETH SCOPPA

1938-2017

-

Heaven received a beautiful soul on January 21, 2017 when Jane Bamberger Scoppa, 78, went home to be with the Lord. A loving wife, best friend, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 12, 1938, Jane was the daughter of Julian Bamberger and Janet Salinger and stepdaughter of Sidney Salinger and Laura Bamberger. Jane had one brother, Jim Bamberger and two step brothers, John Salinger and Sid Salinger. In 1968 Jane married the love of her life, Silvio Peter Scoppa. They spent the next 45 years loving each other in a manner envied by most and modeled by few.

Jane and Pete started a jewelry business together and through that, many of their customers became close friends. Anyone who met Jane was blessed by her warmth and love. She was elegant and poised, funny and sweet, a true friend and counsellor to anyone in need.

Having lost her granddaughter Allison Scoppa to brain cancer, Jane dedicated her time to helping sick children and their families. For the past 17 years, Jane volunteered for The Auxiliary to Texas Children’s Hospital where she served on the board in various roles, worked in the gift shop, and served as a patient pal. Jane logged over 6,500 hours of volunteer service and considered Texas Children’s a second family.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her step-brother Sid, her husband, and her granddaughter. She is survived by her step-brother, John and her children: Kathy Bulmer, Ron Scoppa, Pete Scoppa, and Laurie Brim. Jane enjoyed her time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Jane’s life will be at Sugar Creek Baptist Chapel (13213 S.W. Freeway, Sugar Land TX, 77478) on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in memory of Jane Scoppa to The Auxiliary to Texas Children’s Hospital (6621 Fannin St., Suite A-1125, Houston, TX 77030) or to the charity of your choice.
