CALVIN “MOON” VERNON WILLIAMS

passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home in Missouri City, Texas. Calvin, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Andry Williams and Lawrence Ernest Williams; and siblings; Marvin Williams, Gene Williams, Wendell Williams and Karen Williams Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sherry Neely Williams; two daughters, Asha Williams, Dallas, Texas, and Lea Williams, Houston, Texas; siblings Lawrence Roy Williams, Sr. (Nettie), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sonja Williams, Houston, Texas, Keith Williams, Houston, Texas, Elston Williams (Phyllis), Missouri City, Texas, sister-in-law Chinetta Woods, Ashburn, Virginia, and a host of wonderful family and friends from Texas, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Calvin graduated from Clark High School, attended Southern University of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from his beloved Southern University, New Orleans Campus. He was one of the first groups of African-American accountant­s hired at Shell Oil, and after 25 years of service, Calvin retired from the U.S. Department of Treasury in 2007.

A Celebratio­n of Life is scheduled for family and friends, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at McCoy and Harrison Funeral Home, 4918 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Houston, Texas 77021. Internment Burial Services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Houston National (V.A.) Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
