- From web reports

CORPUS CHRISTI — University of Houston lefthander Seth Romero struck out 12 batters for the second straight start, but Missouri’s Connor Brumfield hit a tiebreaking, two-run single with two outs in the sixth inning to lift the Tigers to a 4-2 win over the Cougars on Friday in the Kleberg Bank College Classic at Whataburger Field.

Romero, a junior projected to be a first-round draft pick, fell behind 2-0 after three innings, but solo home runs by Jake Scheiner in the fourth and Connor Wong in the sixth allowed the Cougars (3-2) to tie the game at 2.

However, things unraveled from there for Romero, who loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the sixth. He caught Kirby McGuire looking at a called third strike but could not escape the jam when Brumfield singled to left field to plate the go-ahead runs and end Romero’s day.
