Richard J Ferley, passed away March 1st, 2017 at age 89. He was born in Lansing, Michigan July 17, 1927. Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years Dorothy, daughter Karen, son’s Craig and his wife Maria, David and his wife Monica, Scott and his wife Sandi, grandchild­ren Clark and wife Tricia, Meredith, Eric, Justin and wife Katie, Michelle, and great grandchild­ren Everett and Bowie.

He graduated from high school in 1945 then served two years in the army, mostly in Germany, graduated from Michigan State University in 1950 with a degree in Business Administra­tion, moved to Houston in 1951 to join the recently opened Foley’s store as assistant buyer in the drapery department.

In 1957 he founded D&D Drapery Company, which is still a family business today owned by sons David and Scott. He was a fifty-five year member and past president of the University Rotary Club, an umpire nine years with Meyerland Little League baseball, and a player in Harris County Senior Softball League. After retirement, Richard was a ten year volunteer at SCORE, consulting young people starting a new business.

He was a member of the Beacon Bible Study class at Second Baptist Church, active in sports, was a member at Sweetwater Country Club and Piney Point Racquet Club. The biggest loves of his life was his wife Dorothy, who he met in college, and their family.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:30pm on Saturday March 4th at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributi­ons to the Second Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
