5 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND

-

Whoever wrote “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green” ( Joe Raposo) probably didn’t think about St. Patrick’s Day. The official day doesn’t hit until Friday, but the green wave of fun begins this weekend with some parades.

There’s also an art car parade appetizer and a grand opening that feels like déjà vu and, of course, there’s this thing called the rodeo.

RodeoHouston

By now, you know what this is: a carnival and fair built around the centerpiece of the rodeo action inside NRG Stadium. But you might only care about who’s headlining the nightly concert. Alan Jackson plays Saturday night, The Chainsmokers close the action Sunday.

When: 6:45 p.m. Saturday-Sunday Where: NRG Stadium, 1 NRG Parkway Tickets: $18-$300; 832-667-1080 or rodeohouston.com

Houston Art Car Preview Celebration

A look at some of the cars that will be featured in the 2017 Houston Art Car Parade, along with some music, games, a Q&A session and a special screening of the film “Art Car: The Movie.” When: 4 p.m. Saturday Where: Historic Market Square Houston, 301 Milam Information: marketsquarepark.com

St. Patrick’s Parade

Avenida Grand Opening

Sure, it was open for the Super Bowl, but this is the “grand re-opening” of the George R. Brown Convention Center, featuring live music by the Tontons, aerial performances, fireworks and more. A family-friendly parade with floats, food, the Budweiser Clydesdales and more. There will probably be some green food and drink somewhere, too. When: 2-5 p.m. Sunday Where: Cypress Creek Parkway and Champion Forest Drive Information: 1960parade. com
