Corpus resident charged in killing of Houston man

A Corpus Christi man has been charged in the killing of Demarcus Tucker, the older of two Houston brothers shot and killed last summer within days of each other.

Jesus Daniel Guerra’s first court appearance is Monday morning, said Houston attorney Emily DeToto, who is representing him.

Guerra was taken in for questioning and let go last summer after Tucker died.

In one account of the shooting, police were told that Demarcus and Guerra struggled for a gun, which discharged.

Guerra is pleading not guilty, DeToto said.

“Even from what I’ve read and what I know, it seems like it was a tussle over a weapon,” she said. “The police let him go that night.”
