Howard Joseph Fontenette, Jr. was born December 6, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Othree Lucky and Howard Joseph Fontenette, Sr.

Howard graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1970.

He embraced his entreprene­urial spirit and launched H & F Export Packers. Howard also started Stretch Transporta­tion and HJF Enterprise­s.

While being a businessma­n and a family man, Howard still had the need to do more. In 1992, he started the Wallisvill­e Road Athletic Club. This youth sports organizati­on served children ages four to seventeen in the East Houston Area. Still fueled with the growth mindset, Howard was the Commission­er and Founder of the Advanced Youth Football League (AYFL) which span throughout the Houston area.

Howard was a member of East Orange African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Howard passed away on March 21, 2017.

Left to cherish his memory and carry out his legacy are his children, Kristy Ali, Aaron Joseph, Howard “Chino”, III, Kimberly Desselle, Barrett Eleazar, and Kasie Marcelle, his loving mother, Othree Fontenette, his sisters, Deborah E. Fontenette-Smith and Marva M. Fontenette, his brother, Mark A. Fontenette, niece, Kendrah Smith, nephew, Robert C. Smith, Jr., great-aunt, Agnes Green, and his beautiful granddaugh­ter, Jaxyn Ali.

Visitation will be held on (Thursday) March 30, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. in the Chapel of TROY B. SMITH PROFESSION­AL SERVICES, 9013 Scott Street, Funeral Services will be held on (Friday) March 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church 2209 Dowling, Rev. Leo M. Griffin, Pastor, Interment Golden Gate Cemetery.
