Vincent T. Caltagiron­e, Jr., age 90, passed away on Tuesday, the 28th of March 2017, in Houston. He was born on the 31st of July 1926.

After graduating from St. Thomas High School in 1943, Vincent attended Texas A&M University followed by an enlistment in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge, he received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, followed by 35 years in the insurance business. Vincent was a board member of the National YMCA scuba program. One of Vincent’s recreation­al diversions was teaching scuba at the Houston Downtown YMCA. Vincent was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, as well as the Sacred Heart Society of Little York.

Vincent is preceded in death by his father, Vincent T. Caltagiron­e, Sr. and his mother, Carolyn Caltagiron­e.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roberta “Bobbi” Caltagiron­e; sons, Tom Caltagiron­e and wife, Lu Caltagiron­e, and Jack Caltagiron­e; granddaugh­ter, Lauren Caltagiron­e; grandson, John Caltagiron­e and wife, Jill Caltagiron­e; the love of his life, great granddaugh­ter, Whitney Claire Caltagiron­e; and numerous cousins.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 31st of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the recitation of the Holy Rosary will commence at half-past six o’clock in the evening.

The funeral mass is to be offered at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 1st of April, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway in Houston. Immediatel­y following the mass, all are invited to greet the family in the nearby Fellowship Hall.

The Rite of Committal is to be held at half-past one o’clock in the afternoon also on Saturday, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembranc­es, memorial contributi­ons may be directed towards the American Heart Associatio­n, PO Box 841125, Dallas TX 75284; or to the American Cancer Society, 2500 Fondren Rd., Ste. 100, Houston, TX 77063.
