MILTON VANCE WEST JR.

-

1931-2017

Milton Vance West Jr., age 85 of Alvin, Texas passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home in Alvin, doing what he loved, sitting at his desk reading his Bible. Vance was born November 3, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for over 25 years. Vance is preceded in death by his parents, Milton Vance West Sr. and Dorothy West.

Vance is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Wanda West; daughters, Debbie Schultz and husband Rich, Becky Hudson, Shelly Jenkins and husband Matt; sons, Milton Vance “Bud” West III, and wife Brenda, George West and wife Joan, Tracy West, David West and wife Beth; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; along with numerous other family and friends. He was known as Red, Milton and Vance, but the greatest names were always daddy and grandpa. Even though there were 7 kids, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, he was blessed with the ability to find common ground and forge a special relationship with each and every one of them. He left them all with that gift!

There are so many fond memories of numerous hunting trips and his annual trips to observe the Feast of Tabernacles in different parts of the country. He always made sure to take advantage of a teaching moment, and was the first to thank God for the bounty!

Vance was a lifelong learner; he earned his pilot’s license, owned his own plane, self-taught himself how to play the steel guitar and was an avid reader. Known as a great story teller and was infamous for his dry witted jokes, it was always a pleasure to be in his company.

He was a selfless man who was silently generous even when he did not have much to give. He enjoyed his time being involved in the Prison Ministry and made an impact on the lives of many inmates. He was a true servant of God in all ways and the family is comforted by knowing that he has finished his race and awaits to hear the words, “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant, Now Enter into the Kingdom of God.”

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org or the charity of your choice.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Scott Funeral Home. A reception will be held immediately after the memorial at Joe’s Banquet Center directly across the street.

Arrangements under the direction of the Scott Family, 1421 East Hwy 6, Alvin, Texas 77511. (281) 585-1000 www. scottfuneralhome.net
