H. GREGORY “GREG” KNAUTH

H. Gregory “Greg” Knauth, age 84, long-time resident of Rosenberg, TX, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Clayton Oaks Living, with his wife, Ann O. Knauth, by his side, after a long illness. Greg was born on July 3, 1932 in Dallas, TX to Herbert R. and Bessie Lewis Knauth. Greg grew up in Joinervill­e, TX and graduated from Gaston High School as the Valedictor­ian in 1950. He had one sister, Eleanor Knauth Morgan, of Longview, TX. In 1954, Greg obtained his undergradu­ate degree in economics from Rice Institute in Houston, TX and then served in the U.S. Navy on the USA Hancock from 1954-1956. With the help of the GI Bill, Greg obtained his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1958.

He met his wife, Ann O. Knauth, in Houston, TX, while working as a title attorney at Shell Oil Company. They married in Houston on July 16, 1960 and then moved to Tyler, TX with Shell. In 1963, they relocated with their growing family to Rosenberg, TX, where Greg joined Rosenberg Title Company and establishe­d his law practice at 912 Fourth Street in Rosenberg, where he served clients for almost 40 years.

In addition to his wife of almost 57 years, Ann Orts Knauth, Greg is survived by his children, Jennifer Knauth Knight, Claire Knauth and Alix Knauth, all of Austin, TX; grandchild­ren Benjamin Lipinski, of Chicago, Illinois; and Luke Lipinski and Auguste Knauth, of Austin, TX.

Memorials may be sent to Houston Hospice-El Campo or Rice University.

Visitation will be 4 - 6:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, (281) 342-4671. A Memorial Service celebratin­g the life of Greg Knauth will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at First Presbyteri­an Church of Sugar Land, 502 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, TX 77478, (281) 240-3195.
