After a $37 million comprehens­ive renovation on Moody Garden’s Aquarium Pyramid, the grand reveal for the public is slated for May 27 to kick off Memorial Day weekend.

From fireworks over the beach to a traditiona­l hometown parade, Galveston will offer plenty of excitement for the 4th of July. On the evening of July 4, Galveston Island will celebrate its annual Independen­ce Day parade featuring a procession of floats, decorated military vehicles and performers. After the parade, the island will host a 20-minute fireworks show over the Gulf of Mexico.

Celebratin­g 30 years of July 4th music, fireworks and fanfare on Buffalo Bayou, CITGO Freedom Over Texas will turn it up with live performanc­es, family activities and pyrotechni­cs from 4 to 10 p.m.

For the first time in the event’s history, the celebratio­n will kick off with a patriotic tribute by United States Air Force Band of the West. Hunter Hayes will follow before DNCE takes the stage.

As is tradition, the evening will conclude with a spectacula­r blast of fireworks thanks to CITGO, which has provided the finale since 2015.

Houston’s favorite Fourth of July celebratio­n features patriotic music and a fireworks display. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performanc­e between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

If tickets remain at 1 p.m., the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. Open seating on the hill.
