LOS ANGELES ANGELS

RHP Daniel Wright will replace RHP Alex Meyer as Thursday’s starter against Tampa Bay. Angels manager Mike Scioscia is hopeful that Meyer, who went on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with midback stiffness, will return next week.

NEW YORK METS

The club activated C Travis d’Arnaud from the disabled list and placed LHP Tommy Milone on the 10-day DL with a sprained left knee.

After playing six games in the minors on his rehab stint, d’Arnaud was available off the bench. He had been on the disabled list since May 3 with a bruised right wrist.

Steady veteran Rene Rivera, who has played very well behind the plate in d’Arnaud’s absence, remained in the starting lineup Wednesday — but manager Terry Collins says d’Arnaud is likely to catch Thursday night.

Milone was put on the DL retroactive to Monday, the day after he was hit hard and chased early in a 12-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. His injury leaves the banged-up Mets without a scheduled starter for Saturday night in Pittsburgh against Gerrit Cole and the Pirates.

NEW YORK YANKEES

CF Jacoby Ellsbury left Wednesday night’s game against Kansas City with a concussion and sprained neck after banging his head into the center-field wall while catching Alcides Escobar’s fly ball on Luis Severino’s opening pitch.

Ellsbury was down for an extended period and was checked by a trainer. He remained in center for the rest of the first inning, did not come to bat in the bottom half and was replaced by Aaron Hicks starting the second.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Ellsbury will be placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS

OF Anthony Alford was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left wrist. Alford got hurt while striking out in the ninth inning of Toronto’s 4-3 win Tuesday night. He had snapped an 0 for 6 streak to start his career two innings earlier with a pinch-hit double.

OF Dwight Smith Jr. was recalled from Class AAA Buffalo to replace Alford.
