Thoughts on Ramadan

-

Regarding “30 days of Ramadan” (Page F1, Sunday), with Ramadan approaching, Muslims pay special attention to upholding the practices of the Prophet Muhammad. Despite being very generous, the peak of Prophet Muhammad’s generosity came during Ramadan.

As a Muslim, Ramadan to me signifies a month of increased charity and generosity. The ISIS attack in Manchester, however, stands in stark contrast to the very foundation of what Ramadan stands for.

Referring to such heinous attacks, the caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community made it clear that “those who seek to justify their hateful acts in the name of Islam are serving only to defame it in the worst possible way.” I hope the extremists stop defaming the spirit of Ramadan and adopt some actual principles of Islam.
