Grace Katherine Biven born on March 20, 1925 in Patterson, NJ to Beatrice May Herberg and George Washington Smith. Grace passed away, of natural causes, peacefully in her home Saturday May 20, 2017. Grace changed many lives through her love, compassion, generosity and sense of humor.

In 1937 the Smith family moved to Houston where she graduated from Charles H. Milby High School

Grace worked Peden Iron & Steel as typist in the billing department but then moved to the steel department where she would meet her future husband Ford. He would later take her to an office Christmas party as their first date. Ford and Grace married on June 13, 1948 at 1st Methodist. Throughout their marriage Ford and Grace loved to travel and went on many trips throughout the United States.

Many times Grace said, she felt very blessed with wonderful neighbors, friends and family.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her husband D. Ford, Brother George Smith and wife Marteen and great-nephew Brian Smith.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassion and dedication to end of life care as well the caregivers from Evergreen Private Care for the 24/7 service they provided.

She is survived by her Niece Lyndith (David); Nephew’s Michael Smith (Martha) and Henry (Stephanie). She is also survived by great nieces and nephews Aaron (Amy) Mills; Sarah Mills; Jennifer Wyatt (Mark); Christina Clay (Patrick); David (Shakaree); Kevin. Great-great nieces and nephews: Ethan, Ashley, Max, Noah, Haylee Wyatt, Tristan Clay; Kaelyn and Elody Smith as well as many cousins, great-cousins and great-great cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home Chapel. A committal service will proceed directly after funeral services at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
