Reggie Bush had a terrible 2016 season. He doesn’t want his career to end that way. It seems like just yesterday when Texans fans were hotly debating whether the team should draft Vince Young, Matt Leinart or Bush with the first overall choice in 2006. Instead, they opted for defensive end Mario Williams. At the time, I’d have gone with Bush because I believed (incorrectly) that David Carr might still be salvageable with better run support. As things turned out, it’s a wash as to whether Williams or Bush enjoyed the more productive NFL career – Young and Leinart were busts by every measure – but now they’re both currently unemployed. Bush definitely wants to play in 2017, if only to erase the memories of his (bad) history-making season last fall, when, appearing in 12 games for Buffalo, he became the first player with as many as 10 rushes to finish with negative yardage. His 12 carries, one of which gained five, resulted in a net loss of three.
