Herbert Otto Zwahr passed away on May 30, 2017 at the age of 82. Herbert was born on October 9, 1934 in Washington County, Texas.

He attended Latium School and served in the US Army, including the National Honor Guard, for 6 years before his discharge when he settled in Houston. Herbert worked for Wyatt Metal & Boiler Works, Wyatt Industries, McElroy Engineerin­g, and Enpro Systems before he retired to enjoy his farm in Independen­ce, Texas. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed a relaxing break under the porch fan after a busy day on the tractor or bulldozer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Houston, Fairbanks Masonic Lodge #1363, Sons of Hermann #6, Houston Heights Chapter #258 – Order of The Eastern Star, and the American Welding Society #022.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria (Stoerner) Zwahr; Daughters & son-inlaw, Kathy & Eddie Bench and Jennifer Zwahr-Castro; Granddaugh­ters & Husband, Rebecca & Shaun Meyer and Beatrice Castro; Grandsons, Matthew & Joshua Bench and Otto Castro; Sisters & brother-in-law, Evelyn & Aubrey Harmel and Allyne Sillavan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5-8pm at Pat H. Foley & Co Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th St Houston, TX 77018. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 at 10 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 3606 Beauchamp St, Houston, TX 77009. Burial to follow at 2:30 pm at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Brenham, TX.
