José Matilde Oxi went home to our Lord on June 09, 2017. He was born on March 13, 1938 in San José Poaquil, Guatemala to parents Leon Oxi and Isabel Cali. Jose grew up in and around Guatemala City. Before leaving Guatemala, Jose served in the Guatemalan Armed Forces. He loved boxing and dressing sharp. José arrived in Houston, TX in the mid 60’s. José worked for River Oaks Chrysler for 18 years and worked with the City of Houston Parks and Recreation for 22 years. José married the woman of his dreams Rufina in 1972. He had three children, Maria Teresa, José Leon, and Pete. Known to us as “Pa” he could not have enough of Wrestling at the Sam Houston Coliseum and later WWE. He loved working on his cars and taking care of his home along with the occasional soccer match on TV. José was a loyal friend/coworker and devout husband/father/grandfathe­r. Pa taught us the meaning of taking pride in any job you do. No matter how big or small, you do your best. In his later years his mantra was, “Look Forward, Don’t Look Back.” José is preceded in death by his parents Leon Oxi and Isabel Cali; sisters, Anacleta Oxi Cali, Demetria Oxi Cali; Brothers, José Cruz Oxi Cali and Inocente Oxi Cali. He is survived by his loving family which includes his wife: Rufina A. Oxi, his three children Maria T. Arellano, Pete Oxi, and José Leon Oxi, wife Michelle DeLeonOxi, his three grandchild­ren Philip A. Breaux, Andrés José Oxi, and Bruno Joseph Oxi, his sister Felipa Oxi Cali, niece Maria V. Céspedes husband Franz S. Céspedes, sons Franz H. Céspedes and Jaime F. Céspedes and wife Amy Ann Céspedes. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5pm-8pm at the Heights Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7pm later that evening. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1505 Kane St., Houston, Texas 77007. Internment Hollywood Cemetery.
