GLENN “BOBBY” SMITH

1934-2017

On June 13th, 2017, Glenn Smith passed from this life into the realm of the Lord. Glenn was 82 years of age. Born in Franklin Parish near Winnsboro, Louisiana, he attended Winnsboro schools and went on to graduate from Winnsboro High School in 1953. After attending Louisiana Tech for a year and a half he enlisted in with the U.S. Navy. He served for three years in naval aviation, after which he was transferre­d to the reserves. While stationed at NAS Norfolk, Virginia, Glenn met and married his lifelong companion Lois Marie Bastian who was also in the Navy. They celebrated sixty years of marriage together.

After separation from service, they moved to Monroe, Louisiana where Glenn graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana-Monroe) in 1959 with a B.S. degree in marketing and general business. After graduation, he embarked on his thirty-threeyear career in marketing with Esso Standard Oil Company, later known as Exxon-Mobil, retiring in August of 1992.

Following retirement, when not restoring antique clocks, or fixing things, Glenn and Lois traveled extensivel­y touring national parks and historical points of interest. Glenn visited all forty-eight contiguous states.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, F.W. & Verna Smith of Winnsboro, Louisiana, his brother, Freeman E. Smith of Houston, Texas, and grandson Justin Dominic Smith of Lake Jackson, Texas. He is survived by his wife Lois Smith of Spring, Texas, children Michael Smith (spouse Marita) of Irving, Texas, Jeffrey Smith (spouse Marilyn) of Tomball Texas and Monica Ronczy (spouse George) of Mt. Prospect IL. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Thompson (spouse Phil) and sister-inlaw Billie Jewel Smith. He is also survived by 4 granddaugh­ters Hilaire Barch (spouse Chase), Brigitte Rolfe (spouse Nathan), Robin Ronczy and Patricia Ronczy, 5 great grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 17, at Addison Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at Addison Funeral Home with burial to follow in Tranquilit­y Oaks Cemetery, 22302 Hildebrand­t Rd, Spring TX, 77389.
