RONALD JAY “BOONE” SMITH

1957-2017

Ronald Jay “Boone” Smith was born on August 13, 1957 to the union of Joseph and Louise Bonner Smith in Houston, TX. Ron was an only child, however he enjoyed a brotherly relationship with his first cousin Robert Bonner. He attended Houston ISD schools and graduated from his “beloved” Madison High School in 1976. Throughout his school years, Ron excelled at basketball and football and received many accolades and awards for his athletic achievements. His biggest fan, was his mother and she kept many scrapbooks chronicling his many achievements.

Ron attended East Texas State University, now known as Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX on a football scholarship. He received a Bachelor‘s Degree in Marketing. During his professional career, Ron held management positions at various businesses. Ron’s most recent work experience was in the optical field.

Ron was preceded in death by his loving parents Joseph and Louis Bonner Smith.

Ron leaves to cherish his memories: fiancé, Shirlene “Alex” Alexander, first cousin, Robert Bonner (Jeanette), cousins Zelma Harvey, Cameron Frank, Korey Frank, Da’Ondre Henderson, David Henderson and Aunt Barbara Coleman. In addition, Ron leaves his tight knit group of friends: Annette, Jan, Karen, Bill R., BK, Brian, David, Fred, Greg, Kenneth and the Rubenstein family.

Visitation (Saturday) June 17, 2017 from 10-10:55 a.m., Funeral at 11:00 a.m. both services will be held at Windsor Village U.M.C., 6000 Heatherbrook, Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, Pastor, Interment Paradise South.
