The top sports events to watch on TV during the coming week

U.S. OPEN GOLF 1 When: Friday-Sunday

TV: FSI (Friday), Fox (Saturday-Sunday) Dustin Johnson, ranked No. 1 in the world, will attempt to defend his national championsh­ip at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. Johnson also has a tie for second in the U.S. Open among his accomplish­ments. Red Sox at Astros When: 7 p.m. Sunday TV: ESPN This will be the second of two nationally-televised games for the Astros and Red Sox this weekend. They also meet on Fox on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. Boston is trying to keep up with the Yankees in the AL East. College World Series When: 2/7 p.m. Saturday TV: ESPN It’s opening day for the final stage of the college baseball championsh­ip, the eight-team, double-eliminatio­n tournament from Omaha. Texas A&M and TCU are representi­ng the Lone Star State and play their first games Sunday. FireKeeper­s Casino 400 When: 2 p.m. Sunday TV: FS1 NASCAR drivers in the Monster Energy Cup Series return to Michigan Internatio­nal Speedway hoping for changes that will make the track more aerodynami­cally consistent than last year, when Joey Logano won. Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev When: 8 p.m. Saturday TV: HBO pay-per-view The much-anticipate­d rematch for the unified light heavyweigh­t boxing title takes place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Ward won a 12-round decision in the first meeting between two of the sport’s best pound-for-pound fighters. Dynamo at Galaxy When: 9:30 p.m. Saturday TV: KFTH After the MLS took a week off while national teams played World Cup qualifiers, the Dynamo’s young prospects won on Wednesday night in the U.S. Open Cup in North Carolina. Now the real squad resumes attempting to notch its first road win. Confederat­ions Cup When: 10 a.m. Sunday TV: FS1 Eight teams were invited to participat­e in a tournament in Russia as a prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup there. Mexico plays in the second game of the opening day against Portugal.

Nationals at Mets When: 6:10 p.m. Friday TV: ESPN If New York is going to make up ground in the NL East, this series against Washington would be a good place to start. Dusty Baker’s Nationals are running away with the division. ATP Stuttgart

When: 5 a.m. Sunday TV: Tennis Channel Done with clay for a while, men’s players will be wrapping up the first of six grass-court tournament­s leading to Wimbledon with the final in Germany. Roger Federer returned for his first tournament since he won in Miami on April 2 but lost his first match to Tommy Haas. NFL Top 100 countdown 10 When: 10 a.m. Saturday TV: NFL Network Last week’s announceme­nt of players 31-40 created controvers­y when J.J. Watt said he didn’t deserve to be ranked No. 35 because of his limited play last season. Let’s see who complains this week about being ranked 21-30.
