SWAT team rescues hostage in 4-hour standoff

A four-hour SWAT standoff in southeast Harris County ended in two arrests early Sunday morning.

Harris County Precinct 2 deputies found a woman who said she had been assaulted by a man who had grabbed his ex-girlfriend from a party and taken her hostage in an upstairs apartment 2:30 a.m. near Beamer and Kirkridge.

The High Risk Operations Unit eventually stormed the house just after 6:15 a.m. and arrested the man and his brother. The woman was not hurt.

One of the suspects was injured from the blast that blew open the apartment’s door, the sheriff’s office said.
