The team placed OF Jason Heyward on the 10day disabled list before its series opener Thursday at Miami. OF Mark Zagunis and RHP Dylan Floro were brought up from Chicago’s top farm club.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX

1B Jose Abreu has hit all 13 of his home runs on the road, a club record to start a season. The last time he went deep at Guaranteed Rate Field was Sept. 15, 2016.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS

Reliever Huston Street was activated after recovering from a strained latissimus dorsi muscle in his back that had sidelined him since spring training.

The 33-year-old RHP allowed one hit over 11⁄3 innings for Class AAA Salt Lake in a rehab outing Monday.

Los Angeles opened a roster spot by optioning RHP Mike Morin to the Bees on Thursday.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES

C Francisco Cervelli was placed on the sevenday concussion DL for the second time this season. His first trip came after taking a foul tip off his mask at Baltimore on June 6. He came back June 14 and did not play in the four-game series with Milwaukee.

C Jacob Stallings was recalled from Class AAA Indianapolis.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

The club has homered in 11 straight games and has 20 home runs since June 16. The Cardinals had scored four or more runs in their previous 11 games.

TEXAS RANGERS

RHP Jeremy Jeffress (strained lower back muscle) was put on the 10-day DL, and RHP Preston Claiborne’s contract was purchased from Class AAA Round Rock. Jeffress first felt something wrong when warming up before pitching Tuesday.

“The next morning I couldn’t get up out of bed,” he said.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS

3B Josh Donaldson was a late scratch from the lineup as the DH against the Rangers because of left knee soreness.
