Rockets make big splash with Paul deal

- JENNY DIAL CREECH

The NBA offseason has already been a million times more entertaining than the postseason.

The league got a little more interesting when news broke Wednesday that Chris Paul was becoming a Houston Rocket.

Paul was traded to Houston for a package that includes Pat Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell and a first-round draft pick.

It’ s a big move, a bold one, an extremely interesting one.

Paul is easily one of the best players on the market and it makes sense for any and everyone to go after him.

That’s what Rockets GM Daryl Morey does — he goes after that caliber player every year.

I am curious to see how it will all work though. On a fantasy team, James Harden and Paul are a dream come true. On an actual basketball court, will it work? Last year, Mike D’Antoni named Harden the official point guard and we all saw him flourish in that role. Paul is consistently one of the best point guards in the league. How will the two look in the backcourt? Who will handle the majority of the ball handling? What will the offense look like? All fair questions and in reality, all ones I am looking forward to seeing play out. Harden and Paul are two of the most entertaining players in the league and I can see it working under D’Antoni, who has one of the best minds for offensive basketball. It’s definitely a change, but one that makes the Rockets as intriguing as ever.
