Tournament at a glance

Friday’s highlights: Venus Williams, at 37, is the oldest woman to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon since Martina Navratilova was the same age when she was the tournament’s runner-up in 1994. Williams beat 19-year-old Naomi Osaka of Japan 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the third round and will face another 19-year-old — Ana Konjuh of Croatia — on Monday with a quarterfinal berth at stake. On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal is on his way to the fourth round and is three wins away from returning to No. 1 in the ATP rankings. Nadal beat Karen Khachanov of Russia 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 (3) on Centre Court. If he reaches the final at the All England Club, the two-time Wimbledon champion will take over the top spot from defending champion Andy Murray, who held on through a tough fourth set to beat Fabio Fognini 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 and reach the fourth round. Today’s preview: For the first time in 33 years, a pair of brothers will be competing in the third round. Back in 1984, it was Tim and Tom Gullickson. This time, it is 10thseeded Alexander Zverev and his older sibling — 27th-seeded Mischa. Mischa has the tougher path to reach the fourth round — he plays Roger Federer on Centre Court. Federer is 4-0 in their previous matchups, taking all nine sets, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory on grass at Halle, Germany, in 2013. While Federer has won a record 18 Grand Slam titles, Mischa has one quarterfinal appearance at a major on his résumé —at the Australian Open this January, when he lost to — yes, of course — Federer. Alexander is seeking his first fourth-round berth at a major when he faces Sebastian Ofner, a 21-year-old Austrian qualifier who is ranked only 217th. Today’s TV: 7 a.m., ESPN.
