MAYWEATHER AND McGREGOR’S X-RATED CIRCUS IS SUCKER-PUNCHING A GULLIBLE CROWD

The promotion for Mayweather vs. McGregor reaches a new low.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor are making misogyny, racism and homophobia great again.

If not that, then extremely profitable.

Their whirlwind press tour of four cities in a week was a combustible series of racial and stereotypical epithets.

It was hard to tell whether this was just two fighters continually crossing the line in search of marketing dollars, or a Rocky III remix: Actors, pretending to be fighters, in a staged event that stands very little chance of drawing real blood.

McGregor described Rocky III as a movie with the “dancing monkeys in the gym,” before telling Mayweather, “Dance for me, boy.”

Mayweather went titfor-tat in keeping it classy commentary by calling Mayweather a “ho,” a “b--- “and a “f--- ---t.”

As a bonus touch, McGregor wore a suit that spelled with “F--- you” within the stitching of the pinstripes during the stop in Los Angeles. At least he didn’t get his face tattooed like Mike Tyson, but this promotion is still young.

It’s all part of a nauseating schtick while panning for fool’s gold.

There’s plenty of money to be had in these parts. Mayweather is expected to make an estimated $400 million off his little soiree with McGregor on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, assuming the event hits all of its monetary metrics.

It will also push Mayweather into the career earnings stratosphere of $1 billion, joining Michael Jordan ($1.5 billion) and Tiger Woods ($1.4 billion).

McGregor’s take will be at least $75 million, and upward of $127 million. Using the lower number, that’s five times as much as he’s made from any UFC event.

Don’t say that you weren’t warned. Those of us who have been around the ring a few times can smell the stench of a stinker.

McGregor has no shot to win. He is a UFC superstar but out of his element in a boxing ring, where Mayweather is king. Both of these guys are defensive fighters/ counterpunchers. It is not going to be a brawl. It is going to be a methodical beatdown in favor of Mayweather.

He is a 5-1 favorite in Vegas. The bookies rarely make mistakes on betting lines. So if you like the underdog, feel free to throw away more money thinking McGregor has a shot.

All you suckers are getting sucker-punched, thinking that it’s worth $99.95 to watch Mayweather and McGregor playing patty cake in high def.

Meanwhile, this fight won’t draw blood beyond the pottymouth haymakers they’re throwing at each other. But the contrived nonsense seems to be working quite well. Their traveling circus has drawn crowds of 10,000 or more in Los Angeles, Toronto, New York and London.

The #MayMacWorldTour is all the rage on Twitter as well. #PottyMouthSells.

Imagine what will happen when McGregor takes off his X-rated suit and actually tries to throw a punch.

“Floyd will be unconscious inside of four rounds,” McGregor said. “The power and ferociousness that I have, he’s never experienced it before. I don’t fear him.”

The only people who may be unconscious during this snoozefest will be fight fans. Then again, I’m more of a purist, smitten by historic and powerful forces of nature named Ali, Leonard, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Holyfield and even Tyson, before he crossed over to the dark side of selling reputation over substance.

Mayweather vs. McGregor might not have substance, but it has spectacle.

“They get that this is the entertainment business, how the president of the United States was a reality TV star and if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be president,” Lou DiBella, a longtime boxing promoter and former HBO executive, said during the tour last week. “People are into immediate gratification and confrontation. . All this talking is cha-ching, cha-ching. They’re performers.

“It’s a spectacle, a guilty indulgence and there’s nothing wrong with that.”

He’s right, you know. Just because it’s a fake fight doesn’t mean it’s #fakenews.

Pony up your money at your own risk.
