10 BEST EVENTS TO WATCH OR ATTEND

The sporting events to watch or attend in the upcoming days.

British Open

When: 6 a.m. Sunday TV: NBC If you’re merely interested in seeing who drinks from the Claret Jug as winner of the men’s third major golf tournament of the year, tune in around 1 p.m. But you’ll miss a lot of entertaini­ng golf at Royal Birkdale. Friday’s second round is scheduled for Golf Channel, Saturday’s third round for NBC.

Gold Cup semifinals

When: 9 p.m. Saturday TV: FS1 The first of two semifinals in the regional soccer tournament is scheduled for Arlington. The second on Sunday at 8 p.m., also on FS1, is scheduled for Pasadena, Calif. The title game is scheduled for Wednesday in Santa Clara, Calif.

Brickyard 400

When: 1:30 p.m. Sunday TV: NBC Immediatel­y after the British Open, stayed tuned for one of the favorite stops for NASCAR drivers as they continue the Monster Energy Cup Series at Indianapol­is Motor Speedway.

Inside Training Camp

When: 3 p.m. Monday TV: NFL Network Yes, it’s that time of the year again. NFL teams start training camp next week, and its network will have daily highlights from the 32 sites. The Texans start Thursday at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.

Texas A&M takeover

When: Sunday TV: SEC Network The conference’s network is devoting 24 hours each day for two weeks to one of its universiti­es. This is the day for Aggies, featuring in particular the emotional 1999 football victory over Texas after the bonfire tragedy that took the lives of 12 A&M students.

Dynamo at D.C. United

When: 6 p.m. Saturday TV: KUBE The Dynamo entered the week third in the West, although still struggling to earn points on the road. This match provides them with an opportunit­y against the East’s last-place team.

Breakers at Dash

When/where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday; BBVA Compass Stadium,

TV: None The Dash finally appear to have gotten it together after the coaching change ushered in Omar Morales. They haven’t lost in their past five games and play at home against a Boston team below them in the NWSL standings.

Cardinals at Cubs

When: 7:05 p.m. Sunday TV: ESPN As with the Yankees and Red Sox in the American League, the networks can’t resist St. Louis and Chicago in the National League because of the intense rivalry . FS1 will televise Saturday’s game from Wrigley Field at 3:05 p.m.

Monaco track and field 10

When: 1 p.m. Friday TV: NBCSN This Diamond League meet on the internatio­nal track and field circuit is the final tune-up for top athletes, including Usain Bolt, before the Aug. 4-13 world championsh­ips in London.
