John Joseph Coad, 88, of Houston passed away on July 21, 2017. He was born on January 28, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa and raised in Connecticu­t by his parents Michael and Dorothy Logue Coad and his older sister Darlene Caron. He attended Washington State University, graduating in Hotel Management. John spent a year training to be a chef in Paris and returned to the U.S. to honorably serve in the Air Force during the Korean War.

John was owner and president of Memorial Realty, founded in 1965 in Houston. His business became one of the largest independen­tly owned real estate firms in the Houston area in the 90’s. He was on the board of directors of the Houston Associatio­n of Realtors. In his later years, John was active in St. John Vianney Catholic Church as an usher, led a retired profession­als group ALPS, and supported numerous charities. His love of fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and telling humorous stories were just a few of his many past-times he liked to share with others.

His legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Leona Mach Coad of El Campo, his five children, Debbie, Craig, Stephen, Mark, and David, as well as his 14 grandchild­ren and 5 great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral Mass begins 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at St. Philip Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Oduro Tawiah. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Condolence­s may be left for the family online at www. triskafune­ralhome.com
