Indians slam past Angels

CLEVELAND — Edwin Encarnacio­n hit a grand slam in the 11th inning as the Cleveland Indians, who wasted a seven-run lead, beat the Los Angeles Angels 11-7 on Tuesday night for their fifth straight win.

Encarncion’s shot into the left-field bleachers off Bud Norris capped a strange night for the Indians, who led 7-0 after two innings.

BLUE JAYS 4, ATHLETICS 1 : Cesar Valdez pitched a career-high six innings to win for the first time since his big league debut more than seven years ago and Ryan Goins had two RBIs as Toronto beat visiting Oakland.

RAYS 5, ORIOLES 4 : Rookie Jake Faria pitched into the eighth inning and Tim Beckham’s three-run homer capped a five-run inning for Tampa Bay, which snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over visiting Baltimore.

CARDINALS 3, ROCKIES 2 : Harrison Bader doubled leading off the ninth for his first major league hit and slid across the plate for the winning run against visiting Colorado.

CUBS 7, WHITE SOX 2: Willson Contreras drove in four runs and Carl Edwards Jr. provided relief, helping the Cubs top the White Sox at Wrigley. John Lackey became the first major leaguer to hit four batters in a single game since 2015.

YANKEES 4, REDS 2: Rookie Jordan Montgomery took a no-hit try into the sixth, Didi Gregorius connected for his third homer in two games, and New York topped visiting Cincinnati.

ROYALS 3, TIGERS 1: Whit Merrifield homered on the first pitch of the game and Kansas City led the rest of the way, winning at Detroit for its seventh consecutiv­e victory.

BREWERS 8, NATIONALS 0: Travis Shaw, Eric Thames and Manny Pina homered, and Zach Davies tossed 72⁄3 shutout innings as Milwaukee won at Washington.

RANGERS 10, MARLINS 4: Joey Gallo homered twice as Texas slugged past Miami in Arlington.
