DETROIT TIGERS

A new program will allow fans at Tigers games at Comerica Park to get into the ballpark quicker by using fingerprints to verify their identity.

The biometrics scanning system will debut this week, and ballpark officials say those willing to have their fingers scanned will have access to shorter lines.

NEW YORK YANKEES

3B Todd Frazier will always remember his first home at-bat as a member of the Yankees.

Frazier, acquired by the Yankees last week from the White Sox, came up with the bases loaded in the second inning Tuesday night and proceeded to bounce into a triple play against Cincinnati.

Frazier hit a hard grounder up the middle. Reds SS Jose Peraza fielded it, stepped on second and threw to first.

Didi Gregorius, who had been on second base, held up when the ball was hit in case it was caught. He was late to advance, and 1B Joey Votto’s throw across the diamond caught him in a rundown. Gregorius was called out for running wide of the baseline trying to avoid a tag. It was the Reds’ first triple play since 1995, and the first against the Yankees since 2011.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

RHP Adam Wainwright and CF Dexter Fowler were placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Wainwright’s DL trip is retroactive to Sunday, as he is experiencing mid-back tightness. Fowler is out with a strained left wrist.

Harrison Bader, a third-round draft pick two years ago, was brought up from Class AAA, making his major league debut on Tuesday.

“We’ve been talking about Harrison a variety of times to come up,” general manager Mike Girsch said. “It just felt like he’s been playing so well in Memphis, it was time to get him up here and give him a shot.”

Bader was hitting .297 with 19 home runs and 48 RBIs in 97 games for Memphis this season.
