CYCLING
BikeHouston is collecting donations to help create a greener Houston and reduce emissions by creating a city that works for bikes. A former executive of the group has pledged to match all gifts made to BikeHouston up to $5,000. Visit bikehouston.org.

Let’s Do This Houston and Third
Ward Tours offer two evening events this weekend. Vibe & Ride to Jay Z is a cruise around the city on brand new Dutch bikes Friday with stops at various “hotspots” while listening to the music of Jay Z’s new album 4:44 played from the group’s loud speaker. Saturday Night Lights the next day rides through the city with music and food stops on Dutch Cruisers equipped with LED solid color lights. Both events begin at 7:30 p.m. at 2301 Elgin. Inaugural Mark Neagli Charity Golf Tournament is Saturday at Jersey Meadow Golf Course with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The modified four-person scramble benefits the United Spinal Association of Houston to support individuals affected by paralysis. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Leah Alberto and Zakary Jones won the boys and girls Greater Houston City Junior Match Play Championships, conducted by the Houston Golf Association, at Memorial Park last weekend. Alberto is a 16-year-old junior at Kingwood Park, and Jones, 17, is at Klein Collins.

TENNIS
Tennis courts in the Gully Family Tennis Center in Unity Park, previously locked and available only for a fee, are now open and free for public use. Magnolia resident Randy Ortwein spear headed the fundraising effort to add courts in the park. The three courts at 19450 Unity Park Drive are the only public courts in west Magnolia. Houston Tennis Association City Wide 4.0/4.5 tournament winners were Houston Ladies 4.5 Chancellor’ s Game On, captained by Ch erie B au ch; North Houston 4.5 Memorial Park Serve It Up!, captained by Jeni Dao and Charlotta Wharton; and Houston men’ s 4.5 Homer Ford Hurricanes, captained by Jason Freeman. The tournament was last weekend at Lee Le Clear Tennis Center. All will compete in the Texas Section al tournament in Richardson August11-13.
