ASA ROGERS (A.R) QUINN, JR.

Asa Rogers (A.R.) Quinn, Jr., died peacefully at his home in Kemah, Texas on July 28, 2017 at the age of 86. A.R., born August 31, 1930 in Houston, Texas, was the eldest of six children of Asa Rogers Quinn, Sr. and Trannie Bell Quinn. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfathe­r, and friend. He was a true gentle soul.

A.R. was a successful and career salesman in the oilfield supply business, working as Vice President and Sales Manager for Shoreline Supply Co., and later as President of his own company, Standard Equipment & Supply.

He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Ocean during the Korean War, a fact of which he was always proud. He was a Freemason and a Master Gardener.

Sports were an important part of his life during childhood and beyond. A.R. was offered an opportunit­y to play for the St. Louis Cardinals organizati­on, having to decline because he was only 17, under the age necessary to sign a contract.

Family was a central part of A.R.’s life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Trannie, his brother, Wade Glenn Quinn, sister, Joan Quinn Hale, and his son, William Edward Quinn. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Kaye Sorensen Quinn, sons Dean Quinn and wife, Christi, and Wade Quinn and wife, Andrea. He is also survived by sisters Carolyn Quinn Fox and Diane Quinn Tork, and his brother Jim Quinn.

He is further survived by stepdaught­ers Sherry Perrone, Vicky Sorensen and partner, Nancy Gosney, and Lori Lee and husband, Brad. He leaves behind grandsons Connor Quinn, Christian Quinn, Graham Quinn, and Colin Quinn, as well as step-grandchild­ren, Stephen Perrone, Jason Perrone, Katie Perrone, Madelyn Lee, Grace Lee, and Ben Lee, all of whom he loved and who will serve as pallbearer­s. He is survived by numerous brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by friend and former wife, Elizabeth Wilkinson Quinn.

A memorial service celebratin­g A.R.’s life will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas. A private interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of A.R.’s love of animals, the family requests donations be made in A.R.’s memory, to the Houston SPCA, www.houstonspc­a. org or to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to express its love and gratitude to his hospice angels, especially Setha and Leeann.
