Spurs re-sign guard Mills

The San Antonio Spurs re-signed reserve guard Patty Mills, who shot 41 percent from 3-point range last season.

Details of the contract were not disclosed per team policy.

Mills has spent the past six seasons with the Spurs. He averaged 9.5 points and a career-best 3.5 assists last season. In other news: • Doc Rivers is losing his dual roles with the Los Angeles Clippers. He will still coach the team, while Lawrence Frank takes over Rivers’ responsibi­lity for basketball operations. Rivers and Frank will be equals in the Clippers’ power structure, with each reporting directly to team owner Steve Ballmer.

• Former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley reached a deal with prosecutor­s who charged him with striking a security guard at Madison Square Garden. The Daily News reports that charges against Oakley will be dismissed and sealed after six months of good behavior.

Alabama extends Johnson’s contract

Alabama basketball coach Avery Johnson received a two-year contract extension through 2023.

Johnson will receive $2.9 million annually under the six-year deal, up from about $2.8 million. The former NBA player and head coach will also get $150,000 for each completed contract year. In other news: • Tennessee junior offensive lineman Chance Hall will undergo knee surgery and miss the entire season.
