HARVEY RELIEF

Bitter rivals on the field, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are teaming up to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

The teams announced they are partnering to raise money by auctioning off autographed memorabilia and game-used jerseys from Sunday night’s series finale between the clubs at Yankee Stadium. All proceeds will go to support hurricane relief efforts.

Fans can bid at www. steinersports.com/harvey for Yankees items and www.redsox.com/harvey for Red Sox items.

Before the game, New York manager Joe Girardi and Boston counterpart John Farrell marked the joint fundraising efforts by posing for photos together behind home plate while holding a large Texas flag.

CHICAGO CUBS

The defending champions might have to get by without electrifying star Javier Baez after he left their loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday because of blurred vision in his right eye.

Baez took a knee to the eye while diving into second base in the second inning. He departed in the third.

He was being examined at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was expected to join the team in Pittsburgh on Monday.

Baez is a major part of the Cubs on offense and defense. He has been filling in at shortstop with Addison Russell sidelined since early August because of a strained right foot.

NEW YORK YANKEES

The team put outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 10-day disabled list Sunday because of a strained left oblique, less than a month after he missed six weeks because of an injury to his right rib cage.

Hicks was hurt Saturday reaching up to make a running catch of Hanley Ramirez’s drive on the center-field warning track and removed from the game. The switch-hitter is batting .265 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs. He was placed on the DL in late June and came back Aug. 10.

In other news, the Yankees are skipping Jaime Garcia in the rotation and starting rookie Jordan Montgomery in Baltimore on Monday afternoon instead.
