Carl Ray Jones passed away on August 25, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Carl was born in Kosse, Texas on March 23, 1930 to Carlton Lovelace Jones and Letha Vada Parish. After graduation from Thornton High School in 1947, he moved to Houston, where he married Bettye Jean Whatley on January 14, 1950. During his working career, Carl sold large truck parts for various suppliers, and for his own business, which he owned and operated for twenty-five years.

Carl was an avid collector, restorer, and exhibitor of antique cars. He loved puttering in his garage and spending time with friends and family. He was a devoted husband to Bettye and her faithful caretaker in the last years of her life. He was a loving father who taught his children by his fine example, and a cherished “pappaw” to his grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children. Carl was an honest and kind man, a good friend, and will be missed by many.

Carl is survived by his daughter Peggy Jones Pfister, his grandchild­ren Jeff Jones, Heather Whitney, and Drew Pfister, four great-grandchild­ren, his brother Gene Jones, nieces Carol Spaulding and Marcy Miller, nephew David Jones, and many friends. He is predecease­d by Bettye Jones, his wife of sixty-three years, his son Ronnie Jones, sister Margie Jones, niece Jackie Jones, and his parents.

Services will held be at South Belt Church, 13100 Beamer Rd., Houston, TX 77089 on September 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to the American Heart Associatio­n or a charity of your choice.
