Mary Ann Evans was born on January 30, 1943 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ellis Savage McAllister and Karma McGregor. She grew up in Ogden, Utah and attended Ben Lomond High School and Brigham Young University, where she graduated with a B.A in English. On June 21, 1965, she married John Allen Evans in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Mary Ann passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Katy, Texas at the age of 74, from the effects of amyloidosi­s and kidney failure.

She is survived by her husband, John Allen Evans, nine children, their spouses, and 41 grandchild­ren who affectiona­tely knew her as “Nai-Nai” or “grandmothe­r” in Chinese. She is also survived by three sisters, a brother, two sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Mary Ann was a devoted and excellent homemaker. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served joyfully in Utah, Massachuse­tts, New York, Ohio, and Texas in callings that included Primary President, Relief Society President, Stake Young Women’s President, and seminary teacher.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Katy Stake Center, 1603 Norwalk Drive, Katy, Texas, 77450. Family will gather at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fort Canyon Building, 890 N. Heritage Hills Drive, Alpine, Utah, 84004, where funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Harvey North officiatin­g.

A graveside service will follow at Lehi City Cemetery, Lehi, Utah.
