The top sports events to watch on TV during the coming week.

JAGUARS AT TEXANS

1 When: Noon Sunday TV: CBS Where: NRG Stadium The Texans begin their quest for a third straight AFC South championsh­ip against the team expected to finish last in the division. Not many teams would admit this, but Jacksonvil­le would gladly trade quarterbac­k issues with the Texans. Houston has won six straight in the series.

Oklahoma at Ohio State

2 When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday TV: ABC In college football’s game of the week, the Sooners will try to avenge last season’s 45-24 loss to the Buckeyes in Norman. OU quarterbac­k Baker Mayfield completed 19 of 20 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of a rout last week of UTEP. This will be a more severe test. The Buckeyes opened by topping Big Ten rival Indiana.

Astros at A’s

3 When: Friday-Sunday TV: AT&T Sportsnet Southwest The runaway leaders in the AL West meet last-place Oakland in a four-game series. They open at 9:05 p.m. Friday, play a doublehead­er Saturday with the first game starting at 3:05 p.m., then finish with a 3:05 p.m. game Sunday.

U.S. Open tennis finals

4 When: Saturday-Sunday TV: ESPN In the final Grand Slam tournament of the year, the women’s final starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, the men’s final at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Giants at Cowboys

5 When: 7:30 p.m. Sunday TV: NBC Dallas starts Year 2 of the Dak and Zeke show with the opener against New York. Beyond that, it’s unclear when Ezekiel Elliott will play again with a six-game suspension still looming.

Nicholls St. at Texas A&M

6 When: 6 p.m. Saturday TV: ESPNU Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin’s hotseat year got hotter after his team blew a 34-point lead in the 45-44 loss Sunday at UCLA. This game against the Southland Conference Colonels should provide some relief despite the loss of A&M quarterbac­k Nick Starkel.

San Jose St. at Texas

7 When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday TV: Longhorn Network Before beating Cal Poly last week, the Spartans lost their opener to Charlie Strong at South Florida. Now they face Strong’s successor, Tom Herman, who didn’t have the debut he wanted in the Longhorns’ 51-41 loss at home to Maryland.

Auburn at Clemson

8 When: 6 p.m. Saturday TV: ESPN Clemson’s Tigers face one of their toughest tests of the season in attempting to defend their national championsh­ip in this game against Auburn’s Tigers. Clemson began the post-Deshaun Watson era with a 56-3 pounding of Kent State. Auburn also rolled, cruising past Georgia Southern 41-7.

9 When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday TV: NBCSN This is the final race before NASCAR’s Monster Energy Cup Series playoffs begin. Martin Truex Jr. leads the standings by 107 points.

Rapids at Dynamo

10 When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday Where: BBVA Compass Stadium TV: KUBE After surging to the top of the MLS Western Conference standings, the Dynamo have fallen into a tie for fourth. They should pick up points against last-place Colorado. The Dynamo are donating $5 from each individual ticket sold to hurricane relief.
