JOHN McCLAIN’S NFL POWER RANKINGS

WEEK 4

-

1. Kansas City 3-0 (1): Andy Reid has the NFL’s best team and consecutive prime-time games at home against Washington and on the road vs. the Texans.

2. Atlanta 3-0 (2): The Falcons were able to overcome Matt Ryan’s three interceptions at Detroit, and Sunday they host the surprising Bills.

3. New England 2-1 (6): Bill Belichick has backto-back wins but a defense that’s on a pace to allow more yards than any team in league history.

4. Green Bay 2-1 (9): The Packers must have been bored to need overtime to beat Cincinnati at Lambeau Field, where they host the Bears on Thursday.

5. Tennessee 2-1 (10): The Titans won consecutive games against Jacksonville and Seattle. They’ve lost five straight road games to the Texans.

6. Philadelphia 2-1 (15): The only blemish on the Eagles’ record was on the road to the Chiefs. They visit the Chargers on Sunday.

7. Washington 2-1 (17): A 17-point win over Oakland precedes another prime-time game vs. an AFC West team -- Kansas City on Monday night.

8. Detroit 2-1 (7): After their heart-breaking loss on the last play to Atlanta, the Lions travel to Minnesota for an NFC North confrontation.

9. Oakland 2-1 (3): Maybe the Raiders were looking ahead to the Denver game. How else can you explain the rotten egg they laid at Washington?

10. Denver 2-1 (4): After the Broncos looked so impressive destroying Dallas, they stunk it up at Buffalo.

11. Dallas 2-1 (13): After getting carved up in Denver, the Cowboys recovered at Arizona. They host the Rams and their ex-coach, Wade Phillips.

12. Pittsburgh 2-1 (5): Only one Steeler showed up for the national anthem. None showed up in the embarrassing overtime loss to Chicago.

13. Minnesota 2-1 (18): Case Keenum played the best game of his career in a win over the Bucs to keep the Vikings in a three-way tie for first place.

14. Jacksonville 2-1 (19): The Jaguars destroyed the Texans and Ravens. They got destroyed by the Titans. They should beat the Jets.

15. L.A. Rams 2-1 (22): Jared Goff has become a legitimate NFL QB. Wade Phillips’ defense has to play better on the road against Dallas.

16. Buffalo 2-1 (23): Led by quarterback Tyrod Taylor, the Bills beat the Broncos by 10 at home. They take to the road to play the 3-0 Falcons.

17. New Orleans 1-2 (26): Despite allowing 13 points in their victory at Carolina, only two teams have surrendered more points than the Saints.

18. Baltimore 2-1 (8): The Ravens started with victories over Cincinnati and Cleveland before getting stomped by Jacksonville in London.

19. Carolina 2-1 (14): The bad news is the Panthers average 15 points a game. The good news is they play the Patriots, who allow a league-high 31.6.

20. Houston 1-2 (20): Deshaun Watson made his first two starts on the road. Now he plays three consecutive games at NRG Stadium.

21. Seattle 1-2 (16): Evidently, the Seahawks spent so much time trying to decide how to protest at Tennessee, they forgot how to stop the run.

22. Tampa Bay 1-1 (11): The Bucs beat the Bears before getting obliterated at Minnesota. They return home to play the winless Giants.

23. Miami 1-1 (12): Does it get more embarrassing than losing by 14 points to the Jets? It was the Jets’ first victory, and it might be their last one.

24. Chicago 1-2 (30): It’s difficult to believe the Bears beat the Steelers in overtime. If they win at Green Bay, fans will take them seriously.

25. Arizona 1-2 (21): An OT win at Indianapolis is keeping the Cards from a winless record. If they can’t beat the Niners, they’re in trouble.

26. Indianapolis 1-2 (29): The Colts are coming off a victory over Cleveland. They’re going to Seattle, where they should get pulverized.

27. N.Y. Giants 0-3 (24): After losing to the Eagles on a last-second, 61-yard field goal, the Giants have a chance to get their first win at Tampa Bay.

28. N.Y. Jets 1-2 (32): The Jets pummeled Miami in a huge upset. If they defeat the surprising Jaguars at home, it’ll be another big upset

29. L.A. Chargers 0-3 (25): The Chargers play in the NFL’s toughest division. They have no homefield edge. They’re the league’s best 0-3 team.

30. Cleveland 0-3 (27): The Browns have been respectable. They have a showdown for worst team in the AFC North against the Bengals.

31. Cincinnati 0-3 (31): Marvin Lewis’ team showed some signs of life in the OT loss at Green Bay. The Bengals are favored to win at Cleveland.

32. San Francisco 0-3 (28): Talk about a bad game: The 49ers host Arizona. Maybe this one will be as exciting as their two-point loss to the Rams.
