Car fatally hits man walking along Texas 249

A car fatally struck a man who was walking along Texas 249 near Beltway 8 early Wednesday.

The 29-year-old man was walking southbound at about 12:15 a.m. when a woman driving home from work in a 2014 Nissan hit him, said Deputy Chris Capretta with the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office.

The woman didn’t see the man until it was too late to avoid striking him, Capretta said.

The man died along the highway from injuries caused by the crash.

The woman’s vision doesn’t appear to have been helped by limited lighting in the area.

“It’s extremely low visibility, poor lighting,” Capretta said.
