R. PAUL KORS

1935-2017

-

R. Paul “Kosmo” Kors died peacefully on October 15, 2017, at the age of 82. His wife of 51 years, Carol Kullick Kors, was by his side. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Kristen Kors Buck and Shannon Kors, son-inlaw David and grandchildren, Sally, Cooper and Patricia “Patsy” Buck.

Paul grew up in Pontiac, Michigan and graduated from The University of Michigan. After a brief Army posting, he worked in Los Angeles, California for several years for Nalco Chemical Co., Dean Witter, and Loeb, Rhoades and Co. While working he received an MBA from the University of Southern California and in 1973 went to work for Korn Ferry International. Korn Ferry moved him and his family to Houston in 1974 to work in the Houston office and start the energy executive search practice, an extremely successful endeavor. In 1978 he left to form his own Executive Search firm – Kors, Marlar, Savage and Associates, which eventually evolved into Kors Montgomery International (KMI). By the late 1980s KMI had grown to three offices and specialized in energy, technology and international search. He co-founded ITP Worldwide, an alliance of 12 leading global independent firms, serving as Chairman twice.

His work took him around the world, visiting many countries and cities, oftentimes bringing his wife and whole family along. He was an avid skier and adventurer, climbing the Matterhorn on his month-long European honeymoon. He had a passion for movies, with an extensive, almost encyclopedic knowledge of all facets of film. Paul loved so many things and put his heart and soul into learning, reading, World War II and old standards music-listening.

He leaves behind many friends in all parts of the world. His integrity, sense of humor and wit will be missed.

Please join the family at the memorial service, which will be held at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, October 24 at 1pm.
