HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HIGHLIGHTS

-

Three for Shelton

1 Dawson’s Jacolby Shelton nabbed three interceptions in a 34-21 loss to Alief Taylor — two of which he took back for 35- and 71-yard touchdowns. Shelton and the Eagles won’t be too happy with defeat, but they will play for a district title against Hastings next week, while Alief Taylor is alive in the playoff hunt.

Waddle wows again

2 It was a pretty normal night for one of the top uncommitted seniors in the state. Episcopal’s Jaylen Waddle opened against Houston Christian with an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Seven minutes later, he caught a 73-yard touchdown pass. The do-it-all Waddle is all about the big play.

Air Cormier

3 Deon Cormier caught six passes for 148 yards, including one for a 69-yard touchdown in Summer Creek’s 49-24 victory over Channelview. The Bulldogs are having some fun on the way to the playoffs. They have won their last two games and finish the regular season against powerhouse North Shore.

Peguero helps Raiders

4 Christian Peguero rushed for 266 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries. It helped Northbrook to a 34-12 victory over Spring Woods on Friday at Tully Stadium. This was a matchup of two 0-7 teams, and it is Peguero and the Raiders who can at least savor one victory in 2017.
