Ernesto “Ernie” Miguel Flores, 89, of Houston, was called home on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Ernie was cared for and surrounded by family and friends in his final days. Ernie was born on September 24, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Carlos H. and Rafaela Garcia Flores. Ernie proudly served in the United States Marines from 1948-1952 and married Bernice “Bonnie” Cecilia Hinojosa on February 18, 1950 and had 7 children.

He was an entreprene­ur, salesman and an Insurance Agent with Metropolit­an Life for many years. He worked at UT Health Science Center and started a few businesses’ including Tony’s Pizza in Pasadena, Texas (19691976) and AquaJet Cleaning Company (1984-1988). Ernie loved singing and playing his guitar with family and friends. His beloved Bonnie passed in 2001 but was blessed with marrying his dear friend Leah Hernandez on February 14, 2002, who had recently lost her husband Lee prior to Bonnie.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Josephine and Carlos; first wife, Bonnie; sons, Dennis (Sondra) and Larry (Becki). He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian “Leah”; her son Rodolfo Hernandez and daughter Diana Michaels; brothers Robert and Abe; sons, Gene and wife Zaire Berenice, Tom, Ernest “Fran”, David, daughter Bonnie Sue Kinsel (Scooter); 12 grandchild­ren; 13 greatgrand­children.

A Visitation will be on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Miller Funeral Home, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, 77074 from 5:00 till 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Friday, November 10, 2017 in the Miller Funeral Chapel, with procession for Interment to Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, Houston 77077. Immediate family and friends will gather to celebrate his life, nearby at Sylvia’s Mexican Restaurant, 1140 Eldridge, Houston, Texas 77077.
