FANNIE RAUCH

1912-2017

-

Fannie Rubenstein Rauch, 105, died Sunday, November 12th at her home. She was born on October 3, 1912 in Houston to Isaac and Sheva Rubenstein. As the last of their eight children, and considerably younger than the rest, the family showered Fannie with affection and love.

She married Isadore Rauch in 1931 and raised two children Alan and Cissie. Their lives were full with a large and close extended family all living in Houston. Summers were spent at the family bay house in La Porte with their siblings, Sol and Evelyn Rubenstein, and their sons, Jerry and Bo. Fannie also had a large group of friends, many of whom who lost to her in heated Mahjong games.

After Isadore died in 1964, Fannie focused her love and attention on her five grandchildren. She treated them to special trips and frequently had them spend the night with “fancy dinners” at the Stables and The Green Parrot. Fannie was proud of her grandchildren and felt lucky to watch her great grandchildren grow into young adults. She is cherished by four younger generations.

Fannie was also fortunate to have the companionship of her special friend Joe Perl for over 30 years.

Fannie is survived by her children Alan and Lynette Rauch and Cissie and Alan Kaplan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild: Bradley and Sharon Rauch, Haley, Adam and Daniel; Polly and David Roth, Adam, Lori and Eli, Jill, and Emily and Nick; Gary and Cheryl Casper, Shelby and Natalie; Jonathan and Renna Rauch, Evan and Meredith; and Janet Asarch, Allison, Lindsey and Catie.

She is dearly missed by her wonderful caregivers Elvia Hernandez, Aydee Pacheco and Paula Pacheco, as well as a cadre of their family and friends who loved and cared for Fannie for over 25 years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 am, Congregation Beth Israel, 5600 N. Braeswood, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services or a charity of your choice.
