TRINITY EPISCOPALCHURCH presents annual Pipe Organ Extravaganza on Dec. 2
Galveston’s historic Trinity Episcopal Church announces the return of the Pipe Organ Extravaganza, featuring internationally acclaimed concert organist Ronald Wyatt and an appearance by The Houston Children’s Chorus under the direction of Stephen Roddy, on Saturday evening, Dec. 2.
Presented each year on the Saturday evening of Galveston’s Dickens on The Strand celebrations, the Pipe Organ Extravaganza has become an annual tradition for revelers of all ages. Concert organist Ronald Wyatt, the organist at Trinity Episcopal Church, once again will entertain guests for this one-night-only event. The evening’s program will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a special appearance by The Houston Children’s Chorus, followed by the organ concert, music and Christmas carol singing with Wyatt’s accompaniment.
A fixture of Galveston’s Christmas celebrations for more than 20 years, the Pipe Organ Extravaganza performances have become an annual tradition celebrating the holiday season. The organ is moved to the center of the altar facing the audience, giving guests the opportunity to witness the mastery of Wyatt as he plays this magnificent instrument. Wyatt also offers commentary on the music, interesting “back stories” that help bring new meaning to each piece. The audience also will have the opportunity to sing a selection of favorite Christmas carols with Wyatt’s accompaniment.
