Galveston’s historic Trinity Episcopal Church announces the return of the Pipe Organ Extravagan­za, featuring internatio­nally acclaimed concert organist Ronald Wyatt and an appearance by The Houston Children’s Chorus under the direction of Stephen Roddy, on Saturday evening, Dec. 2.

Presented each year on the Saturday evening of Galveston’s Dickens on The Strand celebratio­ns, the Pipe Organ Extravagan­za has become an annual tradition for revelers of all ages. Concert organist Ronald Wyatt, the organist at Trinity Episcopal Church, once again will entertain guests for this one-night-only event. The evening’s program will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a special appearance by The Houston Children’s Chorus, followed by the organ concert, music and Christmas carol singing with Wyatt’s accompanim­ent.

A fixture of Galveston’s Christmas celebratio­ns for more than 20 years, the Pipe Organ Extravagan­za performanc­es have become an annual tradition celebratin­g the holiday season. The organ is moved to the center of the altar facing the audience, giving guests the opportunit­y to witness the mastery of Wyatt as he plays this magnificen­t instrument. Wyatt also offers commentary on the music, interestin­g “back stories” that help bring new meaning to each piece. The audience also will have the opportunit­y to sing a selection of favorite Christmas carols with Wyatt’s accompanim­ent.

Compliment­ary cookies will be distribute­d following the Pipe Organ Extravagan­za. Admission to the event is $10 per person.
